OCTOBER 2022
I’m writing this the day after Liz Truss resigned and like many others am wondering what will happen next and who will be our new Prime Minister.
I can’t recall such turbulent times in government.
Meanwhile I’m at my desk and about to start draft two of my new novel, UNIVERSITY TOM, set in higher education in 1988 and based on my experience of working as a university lecturer during those times. This novel will be out in hardback next year and introduces a new main character, Tom Frith, a 32 year old lecturer.
It was strange leaving behind my Teacher series of novels. The final book in the series LAST DAY OF SCHOOL has been well received with some really encouraging 5 star reviews and positive comments. It makes it all worthwhile!
Last week at short notice I was asked to step in to talk to our local village Women’s Institute group as the speaker they had booked for the evening had to cancel. So thanks to the Roedown WI for their welcome. It was a really rewarding evening and I picked up a few new readers along the way.
Finally, thanks to everyone who has been in touch to say how much they have enjoyed the Teacher series and the amount of enjoyment they have experienced while reading my gentle tales.
Best wishes and happy reading,
Jack
