AUGUST 2022
The sky is blue, the lawn is parched and the temperature is rising again. It’s August and I’m at my desk writing the first novel in a new series set in Higher Education in the late eighties. It features a new main character with many of the storylines based on my own experiences as a lecturer in a college of Leeds University at that time. The working title is UNIVERSITY TOM and will be in the shops next year.
Meanwhile, the final novel in the Teacher series, number 15, LAST DAY OF SCHOOL, will be published on 8 September 2022 with the launch in Waterstones Milton Keynes at 6.00 p.m. This will be followed by signings in Waterstones YORK on Saturday 10 September at 1.00 p.m. and Waterstones ALTON on Saturday 17 September from 11.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.
Last month I recorded this novel at the ISIS studio in Oxford so many thanks to the team there. The unabridged audio lasts a little over ten hours.
I’ve had lots of emails concerning the last two prequels to the Teacher series, BACK TO SCHOOL and SCHOOL DAYS. So many thanks to the readers who have been in touch to say how much they enjoyed these gentle tales. Both of these novels are now out in audio.
I’ve got a couple of talks coming up. The first is in London at the Royal Automobile Club in Pall Mall at 11.30 a.m. on Wednesday 21st September. It’s a ‘Meet the Author’ event with a tasty brunch and a Q&A. Then on Monday 3rd October at 7.00 p.m. I’m in the delightful New Forest to talk to their Rotary Club. I was there a few years ago and I’m looking forward to catching up again with this lively group!
In the meantime, best wishes to everyone out there and stay cool,
Jack
