NOVEMBER 2023

RESEARCH

One of the special pleasures of writing novels is the research. I meet so many interesting people, read back copies of newspapers in the British Library and visit a host of towns and cities. This month I flew out to Vienna where I spent four fascinating days. Of particular interest was the Austrian National Library . . . a magnificent building. I saw Klimt’s paintings including ‘The Kiss’, attended Mozart concerts, marvelled at the many wonderful churches and felt a deep sadness in the Jewish Museum with its poignant memories of World War II.

In the third novel in my University series a few of my characters will visit this spectacular city. The first novel, UNIVERSITY TALES, is now in the bookshops and I’m grateful to the countless readers who have sent messages saying how much they have enjoyed this new venture following my fifteen novels in the Teacher series.

The second novel in the University series is now at the copy editing stage and will be published next year with the provisional launch date of Thursday 5th September 2024.

In the meantime, thanks to readers (and listeners) from all over the world who have purchased a copy of LAST DAY OF SCHOOL along with the audio version, the fifteenth and final novel in the Teacher series. Also an audio edition of ‘University Tales’ is now available.

Finally, with Christmas fast approaching, thanks to everyone who has been in touch to say how much they have appreciated the Teacher series and the amount of enjoyment they have experienced while reading my gentle tales.

With best wishes,

Jack
