APRIL 2024

April 2024

I was busy working on my new novel in the ‘University’ series and had just finished a chapter entitled ‘Beneath a Broken Moon’ when the solar eclipse occurred. It seemed a coincidence. Like many millions I watched the event on television and saw the scene at the Niagara Falls where clouds dispersed and, in the darkness, a crescent moon emerged. It was a dramatic moment.

Since then I’ve made good progress on the third novel in my ‘University’ series and have just passed 50k words while developing the various plots.

The first novel in the series, ‘University Tales’, is now in bookshops. Set in higher education in 1989 and based on my experience of working as a university lecturer during those times, this novel features the adventures of my new main character, Tom Frith, a 33 year old lecturer. I do hope readers of my Teacher series will enjoy this new venture.

The second novel, ‘University Challenges’, has completed the proof reading stage and will be published on Thursday September 5th with the usual launch in Waterstones Milton Keynes. This is followed by a variety of events including book signings in Waterstones York and Waterstones Alton along with Literary Lunches at Wentworth Woodhouse and RAC Woodcote Park. I’m also speaking at several local events in Hampshire. The dates are on the Events page of this website.

In the meantime, thanks to readers (and listeners) from all over the world who have purchased a copy of LAST DAY OF SCHOOL along with the audio version, the fifteenth and final novel in my Teacher series. I’ve also received many positive messages concerning the audio version of UNIVERSITY TALES which I’m told many of you have enjoyed.

Finally, thanks to everyone who has been in touch to say how much they have appreciated both the Teacher series and the new University series and amount of enjoyment they have experienced while reading my gentle tales.

With best wishes,

Jack
